MCHR Ballroom Dancers Host Special Guest
On October 25, 2012, Pierre Dulaine, founder of the world-renowned American Ballroom Theater, hosted the Secretary of State of Northern Ireland, the Rt. Honourable Theresa Villiers MP and other esteemed guests in East Harlem. He chose MCHR to illustrate the merits of ballroom dance as he is expanding the Dancing Classrooms Program internationally. The students eagerly showcased their fancy footwork as they danced a myriad of dances from the tango to the foxtrot to impress the Rt. Honourable Theresa Villiers MP. We feel so humbled that Pierre Dulaine chose our small school in East Harlem to act as the example for his world-renowned program.
Dancing Classrooms’ curriculum encourages a sense of teamwork, respect, camaraderie, and discipline among our students while allowing them to have fun and appreciate the art of dance. Ballroom dance has become an integral part of MCHR’s performing arts program, and one from which all of our students reap incredible rewards.
The school is especially grateful to Brad and Barbara Evans for supporting the Dancing Classrooms program at MCHR because without their patronage, the students would be unable to have these unforgettable experiences!
