Creative Classrooms Visual Arts Program
The Creative Classrooms Visual Arts Program (CCVAP) is a comprehensive, curriculum-integrated visual arts program for all grades. A professional Teaching Artist works with each class once a week enabling students to express themselves through art projects from creating pastels of their daily commute to watercolor silhouettes of their classmates. The students’ artwork has been displayed at various community organizations such as the Metropolitan Hospital.
The program is a powerful tool that provides students with visual and tactile experiences which encourage hands-on learning and critical thinking. In addition, students become familiar with New York City’s cultural institutions through the Museum Program component of Creative Classrooms. Students visit various city museums and learn to observe and analyze art in a museum setting.
